From Yamba to Bruny: Yamba Baths finds its perfect home.

The Master Bedroom in Nofomo Retreat, Bruny Island.

Yamba Baths by Annalisa Lawrence (@saltwaterwoman_) has found its forever home in a Bruny Island retreat, called Nofomo. This vibrant, nostalgic space is truly the perfect setting for this beautiful piece, and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting match. We’re delighted to share the Owner of Nofomo - Coco’s story of dreams, whimsy and love for places that feel like home.

For Coco, what began as playful, late-night messages with her sister Lamb—imagining a cozy escape in Tasmania—quickly turned into something more. Just as they had as kids, the two passed “pretend” ideas back and forth: listing ads, styling ideas, renovation dreams, and a vision of a house they’d both love. That vision soon became reality when Coco and her husband, Mike, took a last-minute day trip to Bruny Island to check out a quirky little home they’d found online. “It was the most stupid thing he’s ever done,” Coco laughs, recalling Mike’s first reaction, “and the best.” By the next day, they’d put in an offer, and Nofomo was theirs.

The home greeted them with a purple paint job, a few decades of patchwork renovations, and an undeniable charm that had Coco hooked. Though she first envisioned stripping away some of the original features, she ultimately embraced them, loving the warmth and quirky character the house brought to life. That pine-lined bedroom that reminded her so much of her mum’s ’80s home? It became one of her favourite spots, a charming retro touch that, she laughs, is a hit with her younger guests who adore the vintage vibes.

Winning Yamba Baths was the final touch that brought her vision full circle. When she entered the Oceanstays competition to win @saltwaterwoman_’s stunning piece, Coco had hoped it would bring a bit of extra magic to Nofomo. Much to her delight, she won! And it’s safe to say that Yamba Baths has found the perfect home. Now, nestled on the walls of Nofomo, Annalisa’s work captures the serene beauty of Yamba’s iconic coastline and brings it to the shores of Bruny Island.

From playful dreaming to real-life retreat, Coco’s journey with Nofomo—and her connection with Yamba Baths—is a testament to the joy of following your heart and creating a place that feels just right. Her Bruny Island retreat now stands as a colorful, cozy, and character-filled escape, inviting guests to revel in a space where art, nostalgia, and coastal beauty come together.

We’re so glad to share Coco’s story and introduce her as the perfect winner for Yamba Baths! We hope her journey inspires a bit of coastal wanderlust, creativity, and a reminder that sometimes, the perfect places come from a little dreaming and a lot of heart.
