Saturday in Yamba: A Day of Ocean Swims, Boutique Saunters and Lighthouse Sunsets
Winter in Yamba doesn’t hibernate. It thrives. While the big cities brace for cold snaps and layered laundry, we start our Saturdays the way all weekends should begin: toes in sand, espresso in hand.
Kick off at the Kiosk at Main Beach, where locals and blow-ins gather for beachside breakfasts and ocean-watching. If you’re game, join the daily crew of ocean swimmers slicing through the mild 21°C winter sea. (Yes, it really is that warm.) Afterwards, towel off and treat yourself to a second coffee. You’ve earned it.
Then it’s time to wander. Yamba’s boutiques are tucked along tree-lined streets and packed with handmade ceramics, stylish beachwear and the kind of books you didn’t know you needed. For the anglers, Turners Beach or the Marina offer peaceful nooks to cast a line and watch the tide roll in.
Still not sure what to do after lunch? You’ve got options: a cheeky nine holes at Yamba Golf Club, a nostalgic flick at the art deco Yamba Cinema, or simply a long, lazy afternoon nap back at your Oceanstays pad.
As golden hour hits, head for the Yamba Lighthouse. You’ll find locals picnicking, kids rolling down hills, and views that will wreck your phone storage. Stay for the sunset. Stay longer for dinner at one of Yamba’s stellar restaurants (we’ve got favourites, just ask).
Winter? Never heard of her.
