The West Is Coming to Byron Bay

Byron Bay is swapping bare feet for boots.

Just for one night.

On Saturday 3 October 2026, The Western Series arrives at Red Devils Football Club for an evening of bull riding, bronc riding, barrel racing, line dancing, Western fashion and food.

It is country culture with a distinctly Byron spirit.
Come for the spectacle, dress for the occasion and make a weekend of it.

A Northern Rivers rodeo story

A Northern Rivers rodeo story

Behind the event is J&J Rodeo, a family-owned Northern Rivers business founded by Jackson and Janaya Felton in 2016.

Their connection to rodeo runs deeper than the arena. Jackson is a second-generation bull rider who has represented Australia in the United States and Canada. Together, Jackson and Janaya run their cattle farm and rodeo business while raising their three boys in the Northern Rivers.

What began as J&J Riverview Cattle Co. has grown into a series of professional rodeos and country events across Australia’s eastern seaboard. The scale may have changed, but the heart of it remains close to home: creating exciting experiences that bring families, friends and communities together.

That is something we understand at Oceanstays. The best weekends are rarely only about where you go. They are about the people who come with you and the stories you carry home.
